Endometriosis

This series of images was made in collaboration with members of the endometriosis support group in Bristol. The project aims to explore the reality of the disease from dealing with chronic pain, a lifetime of surgeries, uncertainty for the future of your body, and the mental health toll that comes as a result.

I found the same stories being echoed to me of chronic pain and painful periods, followed by disregard and mistreatment by medical professionals. This work came about after hearing the shocking stories and statistics of medical misogyny and long diagnosis times faced by millions of people with endometriosis worldwide. Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 of those assigned female at birth, yet continues to be misunderstood and mistreated.
