To Ease The Ache
This body of work revolves around my experience with pain suspected to be caused by endometriosis. My camera acts as a therapeutic tool, allowing me to make sense of my experience and shed light on invisible illness. I want to communicate the complex emotions that come with chronic pain and fatigue, as well as sources of comfort and hope.
Through my experience and research, I have come to recognize the systemic issues that plague healthcare for people assigned female at birth. Centuries of medical misogyny, and societal taboos have resulted in a lack of research into health issues primarily faced by women. This contributes to the difficulties in obtaining adequate diagnoses and receiving sufficient care. As someone who has experienced this first-hand, my photography provides me with a voice. A voice that is often ignored and brushed off by doctors.
